The Medical Immersion Summer Academy is a highly selective one-week program where high school students:
- Experience direct patient observation
- Participate in our patented “Step into the shoes of a physician” skill and patient case workshops
- Gain guidance and advice from the top doctors in the field
- Make friendships that will last a lifetime
- Receive hands-on training for medical techniques/procedures, including:
- Suturing
- CPR
- Splinting
- EKG interpretations
- Simulation labs
- Taking Vital Signs
- Acquire confidence and a sense of direction for the future academically and career
- Build communication skills
- Have engaging and thought-provoking fun!
Duration:
One week intensive program
Dates for the program session for 2013 are as follows:
Session 1 – July 8th – 12th
Session 2 – July 15th – 19th
Session 3 – July 22nd – 26th
The program runs Monday – Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm
Shadowing will take place at Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, CA
